Mrs. Carter and the art club painted faces and helped with the children’s section of the Haunted Trail on Friday night. They had a great time helping out with this community event!
Last week, Mrs. Carter's 8th grade Art Students talked about careers in art and had fun with make-up art. They created gross, fake wounds. They're kind of gross, but the kids loved it!

This week in STEM...Kindergarten cut up veggies & made "stone soup," 11st grade painted butterfly wings, 5th grade made Fall villages and 8th grade built and raced dragsters.
Pre-K loved celebrating their nursery rhyme unit with a party with Mother Goose! Student's brought props and recited their memorized nursery rhymes for the whole class, played silly games outside like Humpty Dumpty Egg Race and Jack & Jill Water Bucket Race, and enjoyed yummy snacks from the Muffin Man and the Hickory Dickory Doc Mice! 👒🪿📚🪶

Yesterday was Kindergarten & 3rd Grade Buddy Day. The kids did "buddy interviews" to get to know their new buddies and and played a few games of Tic-Tac-Toe!

Welcome New Staff Member - Tylor Poe.
Tylor joined us at the start of the school year and unfortunately, we missed highlighting her!
This is Tylor's first time working in a school. She has an associates degree in Science. Tylor lives with her boyfriend, her father and her cat, Frankie. In her free time ,Tylor takes care of her father & other elderly family members. Tylor's favorite quote is: "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." - Bernard M. Baruch.
Ms. Poe is excited to work at Smithton because she enjoys "being part of a child's learning journey. I also love the energy and curiosity that students bring each day."

Last week, Smithton school joined together for National Suicide Prevention Week 💛
✨ We chalked the walk with messages of hope
📚 We shared SEL book readings that inspired kindness and empathy
🔗 We built a colorful chain filled with positive messages and drawings to remind us we’re all connected
Each morning, we also shared one simple but powerful reminder:
👉 Kindness doesn’t cost a thing. We don’t have to be friends with everyone, but we can always choose kindness.
As the week closes, let’s carry this message forward — in our classrooms, our hallways, our homes, and our community. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference. 💛
