First grade learned about animal adaptations last week by experimenting with different types of bird beaks. They had to collect "food" with both pointy beaks and flat wide beaks when it was just food and when there was food mixed with rocks. They saw which was one worked best in each situation and realized every animal has structures on their bodies for specific functions. Learning about animals is interesting!
