May 27, 2022: Today is Mrs. Etling and Mrs. Norton’s last day with students at Smithton School. They are both retiring! We would like to congratulate them both on their retirement. Today is the last day of the school year.  School will dismiss for the summer break at 11:30 am. We hope you all have a fun and safe summer!  The first day of school for the 2022-2023 school year is Wednesday, August 17th. And now it’s time for our final Friday Funny of the Year. May 16, 2022: Congratulations to the track team on their performance at the state track meet on Saturday. The girls placed 4th overall. The following students medaled in their events: Zach Duffie: Hurdles 7th place, 400 4th place – setting a school record with a time of 54.36, 800 8th place. Mark Rozhon: 1600 8th place. Bella Hayes: Pole vault 7th place setting a school with a jump of 6’6”. AnnMarie Trentman: Hurdles 4th place. Grace Trentman: 100 4th place, 200 7th place. Kate Whitworth: 800 6th place. Natalie Whitworth: 1600 6th place. The 4x100 team took 7th Runners were Addie Hesseldenz, Clara Rebstock, Mylie LaFore, and AnnMarie Trentman. They set a school record of 53.67.The 4x200 team took 1st place Runners were AnnMarie Trenman, Clara Rebstock, Addie Hessedenz, and Grace Trenman. They set a school record with a time of 1:52.49. The 4x400 team took 2nd place. Runners were Kate Whitworth, AnnMarie Trentman, Natalie Whitworth, and Grace Trenman. April 13, 2022: Congratulations to the track athletes that competed at the Freeburg/Smithton invitational the girls finished in 2nd place out of 9 teams, and the boys competed well!  On the girls side, Annmarie Trentman, Clara Rebstock, Addie Hesseldenz, and Grace Trentman broke the school record with a time of 1:54.10 in the 4x200 meter relay! September 20, 2021: The Cross Country team did awesome in their meet on Saturday in Edwardsville. Girls came in 10th out of 28 teams with Madalynn Finder finishing 31st overall out of 208 varsity runners. Abby Sherman medaled in the open race finishing 15th. The boys finished 8th overall out of 29 teams. Zach Duffie medaling 1st overall out of 214 runners. They have a home meet tonight against Marissa. Go cougars!
