Smithton School Supports an Anti-Bullying Environment
The district's anti-bullying and anti-harassment policy covers conduct that occurs at school, at school-sponsored activities, and through school-owned technology as well as conduct that occurs outside the school environment which creates a significant disruption to the school environment.
Bullying is an intentional, aggressive behavior that includes an imbalance of power and is repeated over time. Bullying includes cyber-bullying and means any severe or pervasive physical or verbal act or conduct, including communications made in writing or electronically, directed toward a student or students that has or can be reasonably predicted to have the effect of one or more of the following:
Smithton in Action
Smithton School promotes positive behavior and peer-to-peer mentoring through a variety of avenues. In addition, an active student-developed junior high school Anti-Bullying Committee promotes tolerance and helps spread a positive message throughout the school.
The Trevor Project - Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ young people ages 13-24.
Project Semicolon - Project Semicolon is a faith-based non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction and self-injury. Project Semicolon exists to encourage, love and inspire.
