The Smithton School District is delivering K-8 instruction to students based on the Illinois Learning Standards. Illinois is one of 46 states to adopt the Common Core Learning Standards which target English language arts as well as mathematics. Additionally, the Next Generation Science Standards are currently under adoption at the state level and will guide the school's science curriculum in years to come with an emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) topics.
